Visual Democracy at Philadelphia City Hall Gallery

  • Philadelphia City Hall 1400 John F Kennedy Boulevard Philadelphia, PA, 19107 United States (map)

May 31, 2019 marks the 200th anniversary of Walt Whitman’s birth. To celebrate this occasion Art in City Hall, an initiative of the Philadlephia’s Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy (OACCE), presents Visual Democracy, an exhibition of artwork that uses inspiration from passages in Walt Whitman’s 1892 poem, Song of Myself, to contemplate contemporary social issues. I have one painting in this show.

Whitman at 200: Art and Democracy, a region-wide initiative, is organized by the University of Pennsylvania Libraries with major support from The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage. For more information, visit whitmanat200.org.

Opening Reception is May 15, 2019, more details to follow. The exhibition will be on view in Philadelphia City Hall from Mondays through Fridays, 10 am to 4 pm.
